The Round Table was organized by UNESCO together with Akimat of Almaty, Assembly of People of Kazakhstan, Institute of Oriental Studies and the Oslo Coalition on Freedom of Religion or Belief.
The representatives of Central Asian countries, coordinators of the Network of UNESCO Chairs on the Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue, experts and specialists took part in the work of the Round Table.
The main idea of arranging such a Round Table was the interpretation and analysis of a practice helping to “learn living together” and leading to the best understanding of each other, to respectful attitude towards “other” culture, religion and personality, identifying at the same time the commonality, which can promote the creation of the best environment for cultural pluralism and peace.
Each state has presented a country review on the matters of intercultural and inter-religious dialogue, cultural diversity, including the advanced experience and specific examples, which made a basis for debates and exchange of views between the participants of the meeting. |
