It was a field seminar-training on studying, documenting and photographing of rock art monuments for preparation of a computer database of the petroglyphs of Central Asia on the example of the congestion of Sarmishsay.
Experts on petroglyphs, archaeologists, botanists, conservators, scientists on organization and development of ecotourism have carried out a week-long interdisciplinary research in Sarmish. A part of the experts was engaged in making a reconnaissance of the of Sarmishsay site and adjacent territory in order to identify the boundary of protected buffer zone of the Sarmishsay and to reveal all diversification of monuments of this massive. The other part of participants was engaged in delimitation of excreted groups of petroglyphs and others monuments for mapping the object. The third working group of scientists was engaged in documenting the images on planes and their photo-fixation. The fourth groups was involved in the study of the conditions of planes with rock drawings, the revealing of natural damages caused by atmospheric influences, biological destructions, anthropogenic impact etc. Some scientists spent time on the investigation and analyzing of natural state of the Sarmishsay site with the purpose of development of reasonable recommendations for the preparation of the complex to host tourists and for the development of cultural and ecological tourism.
The participants of the conference and field seminar strongly recommended to begin the preliminary works on inclusion of natural and cultural complex of Sarmishsay into the Preliminary List of the World Heritage of UNESCO. |
