Central Asia in the systems of world manuscripts culture

The present book examines the formation and development of letter-phonetic (alphabetic) written systems and the written culture of ancient Central Asia. It considers the problems of graphic development of the Sogdian, Khorezmian, ancient Turkic, Uygur-Mongolian and other scripts, and addresses questions of alphabet formation along the course of the Great Silk Road. The book will be of interest to specialist historians, philologists and orientalists. It can be also recommended as a source of information for scholars of Oriental Studies, Cultural Studies and the study of historical sources.
