The Àtlas was prepared by the authors from the Institute of History, Archaeology and Ethnography of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan. The book is well illustrated and contains rich information about the folk art and crafts of the Tajik people.
The publication summarizes the research of a wide range of materials, represented by artifacts of such traditional Tajik crafts as pottery, embossing, jewellery, wood carving, production of wooden and leather vessels, stone and alabaster carving, and decorative painting on alabaster, wood and papier-mache.
Particularly well-researched are embroidery items, including gold embroidery which represents one of the best samples of decorative crafts of the Tajik people. |
